1-to-1 · 100% of Your Coach's Attention

Private Swimming Lessons

One student, one coach, one session built entirely around you — no group to keep in sync, no waiting your turn, no lesson plan that has to work for six different skill levels at once. Whether the goal is a competitive front crawl or, honestly, just not sinking, private lessons flex completely to whoever's in the water. Every session runs with the same certified coach every time, across Bukit Batok, Tengah, Bukit Panjang/Senja, Choa Chu Kang and Clementi.

One Coach, Zero Compromises

Every SG Sink or Swim programme pairs you with one dedicated coach — but private lessons are where that really shows. There's no group pace to average out to, no other student's schedule to work around, and no generic curriculum standing between your coach and exactly what you need this week. From your first lesson to your last, it's just you and one certified coach, building the plan entirely around you.

Free Makeup Classes, Always

Missed a lesson? It happens — a late meeting, a business trip, a day you just weren't feeling it. Unlike most swim schools in the west, we don't charge you for it, and we don't make you feel bad about it either. Just tell your coach and we'll find a free makeup slot, no forms and no penalty fees.

In The Water

What to Expect in a Private Lesson

A private lesson is built entirely around whoever's in the pool that day — there's no fixed curriculum written for an average student, because there is no average student to write it for. Your coach spends the first session properly assessing where you, or your child, are actually starting from, then builds a plan around that specific starting point, adjusting week to week based on what's actually working rather than sticking to a pre-set script regardless of progress.

That flexibility cuts both ways: if a specific skill isn't clicking, your coach can spend three sessions on it instead of the one a group class would allot; if something clicks faster than expected, there's no reason to sit on it waiting for the rest of a class to catch up. Sessions typically run 30 to 45 minutes depending on age and goals, and most families settle into a standard weekly rhythm — commonly around four lessons a month — though scheduling is genuinely built around your calendar rather than a fixed class timetable.

Private lessons are available for every single programme on this site, from Baby through Competitive Swimming, and at both public pools and your own condo. Whatever the goal — a specific fear to work through, a SwimSafer test to prepare for, a technical fix that needs uninterrupted focus, or just finally learning to swim on your own terms — this is the format built to move as fast, or as carefully, as that goal actually needs.

The Why

Why It Matters

Nothing Gets Diluted

Every minute of a private lesson goes to one student. No turn-taking, no group instructions that only half-apply to you, no pace set by whoever's struggling or whoever's bored that day — just focused, relevant coaching from start to finish.

Total Scheduling Freedom

Because we're coordinating around one family's calendar instead of a class full of them, private lessons offer the most flexibility of any format — genuinely useful for busy households juggling school, work and everything else.

Built for Specific Goals

An upcoming SwimSafer test, a competitive trial, an overseas trip, a technical issue that needs focused fixing — private lessons are the format most families reach for when there's a specific, time-bound goal behind the booking.

The Right Fit for Real Nervousness

For anxious swimmers of any age, or young children who need more patience than a group setting allows, having a coach's full attention — and no audience — tends to make the difference between real progress and just getting through the hour.

The Fit

Who Private Lessons Suit Best

Best For
Why
Young children needing extra patience
No group pace to keep up with while confidence builds
Anxious swimmers, any age
A slower, more responsive pace than a group class allows
Specific, time-bound goals
SwimSafer tests, competitive trials, an upcoming trip — focused prep, no distractions
Technical fixes
Stroke correction issues that need uninterrupted, focused attention to actually stick

Private isn't the only format that works for these — but it's usually the fastest route when time, nerves, or a specific goal are the main constraint.

Before You Book

Getting Started

There's very little to prepare beyond showing up. Here's what's useful to know.

What to Bring
  • Swimwear, goggles and a towel

  • Your specific goal or reason for booking, if you have one — it helps your coach plan session one with real direction

  • A rough sense of your availability, since private scheduling is built around your calendar

  • Nothing else to prepare — any equipment used in the lesson is provided

Before Your First Lesson
  • Your first session is an assessment, not a test — there's genuinely nothing to prepare beyond showing up

  • Most families settle into a standard weekly rhythm, often around four lessons a month, flexed around your schedule

  • Available for every programme on this site — baby through competitive — so let us know which one you're booking

  • Runs at both public pools and condo facilities — mention your preference when booking
