School-Age · Test-Ready, Stage by Stage
SwimSafer Preparation
Built around one clear goal: getting your child ready for a specific upcoming stage assessment, not an open-ended swimming curriculum. Every stage has two parts to pass — a practical assessment and an online CAMS theory quiz — and we build sessions around exactly what your child's specific stage requires. Every block runs with the same certified, SwimSafer-qualified coach every time, across Bukit Batok, Tengah, Bukit Panjang/Senja, Choa Chu Kang and Clementi.
Why the Same Coach Matters as the Test Approaches
Most swim schools rotate you through whoever's free that day. We don't. As a test date approaches, your coach needs an accurate, evolving picture of exactly which specific skills are solid and which still need work — a moving target that's genuinely hard to hand off cleanly mid-course. From your first session to test day, you work with one certified, SwimSafer-qualified coach tracking the same specific gaps.
Free Makeup Classes, Always
Missed a lesson close to a test date? It happens, and it's exactly when it matters most not to lose the session. Unlike most swim schools in the west, we don't charge you for it, and we don't make you feel bad about it either. Just tell your coach and we'll find a free makeup slot.
In The Water
What to Expect in SwimSafer Preparation
We start by identifying exactly which stage your child needs to pass, and what that stage actually requires — the specific strokes, distances, survival skills, and the accompanying CAMS theory quiz, all of which vary by level. From there, your coach builds a tightly focused set of sessions drilling precisely those requirements, rather than a generalist curriculum that touches everything a little. If your child is strong on strokes but has never practised treading water for the required duration, or comfortable in the water but has never sat through the theory content, that's exactly where the lesson time goes.
Every SwimSafer stage has two parts, and both must be cleared independently — passing the pool test alone isn't enough. The practical assessment is marked against a specific list of "must-see" criteria for that stage, and the online theory quiz, hosted on the national CAMS platform, needs a 90% pass mark, completed within seven days of the practical. The theory quiz gets unlimited retakes, so it's genuinely the lower-stakes half — we focus most of our coaching time on the practical, and make sure your child has a short, calm run-through of the theory content before the seven-day window closes.
Because the practical is assessed by an external examiner on a specific day, nerves are a real factor — kids who complete a skill comfortably in a relaxed lesson sometimes freeze under test conditions. Part of our prep specifically addresses this: we simulate test-like conditions in the final sessions, including the exact instructions and sequence an examiner will use, so test day feels familiar rather than foreign. If your child doesn't clear every criterion the first time, that's not a blanket "fail" — the assessor records exactly which specific requirements were and weren't met, so a re-attempt targets precisely the gap, not the whole stage from scratch.
The Why
Why It Matters
A Clear, Specific Target
Unlike open-ended lessons, SwimSafer prep has a defined endpoint — a specific stage, with specific published criteria. That clarity makes it easier to know exactly what's solid and what still needs work, rather than a vaguer sense of general progress.
Built Around the Real Test Format
We simulate the exact instructions and sequence an examiner will use in the final sessions before an assessment, so your child walks in having already experienced something close to the real thing, not just the skills in isolation.
The Theory Quiz, Covered Too
A 90% theory quiz, not just the pool test, stands between your child and a certificate — and it's easy to overlook until the seven-day CAMS deadline is suddenly close. We build a short run-through into the final sessions so it doesn't get missed.
A Coach Who Tracks the Moving Target
As test day approaches, knowing exactly which specific skills are solid and which still need work is a constantly shifting picture — one that's genuinely hard to hand off between instructors. The same coach the whole way through keeps that picture accurate.
The Framework
SwimSafer at a Glance
SwimSafer 2.0 runs across six progressive stages, each roughly 12 hours of lesson time.
Stages | Certificate Name | Focus |
|---|---|---|
Stage 1–3 | Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 | Foundation: water safety basics, introductory strokes, basic survival skills |
Stage 4–6 | Bronze, Silver, Gold | Refinement: longer-distance strokes, advanced rescue and survival skills |
Each stage ends with two separate components — a practical assessment and an online CAMS theory quiz — both of which must be passed independently. We'll help you figure out realistically how many sessions your child's specific starting point and target stage actually need, rather than a generic estimate.
Before You Book
Getting Started
There's very little to prepare beyond showing up. Here's what's useful to know.
What to Bring
-
Swimwear, goggles and a towel
-
Which specific stage your child is preparing for, and the test date if one's already booked
-
Access to your child's CAMS account details, if you'd like your coach to help track progress against the actual criteria
-
Nothing else to prepare — any equipment used in the lesson is provided
Before Your First Lesson
-
Book the actual SwimSafer assessment through CAMS yourself — parents link their child to an accredited coach directly through the portal; coaches can't book it on your behalf
-
Tell us if this is a first attempt or a re-test, and which specific criteria weren't met last time if it's the latter
-
On test day, arrive well-rested, hydrated, and avoid a heavy meal in the 1–2 hours before
-
Set aside 15–20 minutes close to the practical date to talk through the theory content together — that's usually enough for most children
