Swimming Lessons at MOE (Evans) Swimming Complex
Managed by Sport Singapore since 1990 on the grounds of a Ministry of Education institution, MOE (Evans) Swimming Complex has a genuinely unusual rhythm: on weekdays, it only opens to the public in the evening, from 6pm, once the school day is done. Tucked just off Evans Road between Botanic Gardens and Stevens MRT stations, it's a large, well-established Normal Pool that suits families and working adults whose schedules don't fit a typical daytime pool. Lessons here are conducted by freelance and affiliate coaches within the SG Sink or Swim network, operating independently of our directly-run locations.
Coaches We Know, Not Staff We Employ
Coaches teaching at MOE (Evans) Swimming Complex are part of our wider freelance and affiliate network — experienced instructors we've connected with, rather than SG Sink or Swim employees. They run their own lessons independently, with their own scheduling and pricing.
Built Around a Working Week
MOE (Evans) only opens to the public on weekday evenings, from 6pm — genuinely useful if a typical daytime pool schedule doesn't work for your family or your own after-work routine.
The Venue
About MOE (Evans) Swimming Complex
MOE (Evans) Swimming Complex sits at 21 Evans Road, on the grounds of a Ministry of Education institution, and has been managed by Sport Singapore since 1990. Because the facility shares its site with an MOE institution, it's only open to the public outside curriculum hours — which gives it a rhythm unlike almost any other public pool in Singapore. On weekdays it opens purely in the evening, from 6pm to 9.30pm, Tuesday through Friday, and it's closed all day every Monday. Weekends switch to a fuller daytime schedule.
The complex has a 50-metre competition pool and a separate teaching pool, with seating for 828 spectators — a notably large capacity for a standard ActiveSG "Normal Pool." It doesn't have water slides or a lazy river; it's built for straightforward lap swimming, training and lessons. It's sometimes referred to locally as "CCAB," and sits roughly between Botanic Gardens MRT and Stevens MRT — close enough that some visitors walk over through the Botanic Gardens itself.
Full hours are: Tuesday to Friday, 6pm–9.30pm; Saturday, 2pm–9.30pm; and Sunday and public holidays, 8am–9.30pm. It's closed the entire day every Monday, unless Monday falls on a public holiday, in which case it opens 8am–9.30pm as usual. Because public access on weekdays is limited to that evening window, it's worth confirming lesson timings carefully with your coach.
Please Note:
Lessons at MOE (Evans) Swimming Complex are conducted by freelance and affiliate coaches within the SG Sink or Swim network, not by SG Sink or Swim directly. Scheduling, pricing, and how each coach runs their lessons is set independently. We're happy to help connect you with a coach here, but please confirm the details directly with them before booking.

Why This Pool Works for the Neighbourhood
What makes this specific complex a solid option for families nearby.
Fits an After-Work Schedule
With weekday access starting at 6pm, this is one of the few public pools genuinely built around a working parent's or student's evening, rather than expecting a daytime visit.
A Scenic Walk from Botanic Gardens MRT
Sitting between Botanic Gardens and Stevens MRT stations, some families make the walk over through the Botanic Gardens itself on the way to a lesson.
Room to Really Train
A full 50-metre competition pool with seating for over 800 gives older kids and adults plenty of space for serious lap training, not just a shallow teaching pool.
SwimSafer-Aligned Coaching
Coaches teaching here generally structure lessons around the national SwimSafer syllabus — confirm the specific approach with whoever you're matched with.
