Freelance & Affiliate Coach Network
Swimming Lessons at Bishan Swimming Complex
Right in the heart of the central region and just minutes from Bishan MRT Interchange, Bishan Swimming Complex has been a reliable neighbourhood pool since 1991 — and with Toa Payoh Swimming Complex closed for redevelopment, it's become a natural option for Toa Payoh families too. Lessons here are conducted by freelance and affiliate coaches within the SG Sink or Swim network, operating independently of our directly-run locations.
Coaches We Know, Not Staff We Employ
Coaches teaching at Bishan are part of our wider freelance and affiliate network — experienced instructors we've connected with, rather than SG Sink or Swim employees. They run their own lessons independently, with their own scheduling and pricing.
A Genuinely Central Pool
Bishan's location makes it a practical option for families across Bishan, Ang Mo Kio and Toa Payoh — a straightforward, no-frills complex well suited to focused lessons.
The Venue
About Bishan Swimming Complex
Bishan Swimming Complex opened to the public in December 1991 and sits within the Bishan Sports Centre at 1 Bishan Street 14, right beside Bishan Stadium and Junction 8 Shopping Mall. It's classified by ActiveSG as a "Normal Pool" — meaning a 50-metre, 8-lane competition pool, a shallower teaching pool, and a wading pool for young children, without the wave pools or slides you'd find at a feature complex. That straightforward layout keeps the teaching pool calm and genuinely focused on structured lessons.
The complex is open daily from 8am to 9.30pm, closing all day on Thursdays for maintenance (unless Thursday falls on a public holiday, in which case it opens as usual). Early lap swimmers can use the competition pool from 6.30am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Parking is generous, with over 500 car lots on site, and Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park is right next door if you'd like to make a morning of it.
Bishan's central location has taken on extra importance recently: Toa Payoh Swimming Complex has been closed since October 2023 for redevelopment, with no confirmed reopening date, leaving Bishan as the nearest fully-equipped alternative for Toa Payoh families. Formal CAMS practical assessments for this part of the island are centralised at Yio Chu Kang Swimming Complex, a short distance away.
Please Note:
Lessons at Bishan Swimming Complex are conducted by freelance and affiliate coaches within the SG Sink or Swim network, not by SG Sink or Swim directly. Scheduling, pricing, and how each coach runs their lessons is set independently — we're happy to help connect you with a coach here, but please confirm the details directly with them before booking.
