Serving Serangoon & Upper Serangoon
Swimming Lessons at Serangoon Swimming Complex
Serangoon Swimming Complex has served the Serangoon Gardens, Hougang and Upper Serangoon area since it opened in 1995, right alongside Serangoon Stadium. It's a genuinely no-frills training facility — a 50-metre competition pool and a wading pool, without a slide or wave pool in sight — and locals often describe it as one of the more quietly-kept public pools in the northeast, especially outside peak hours. It's also just two bus stops from NEX, one of Singapore's largest malls. Lessons here are conducted by freelance and affiliate coaches within the SG Sink or Swim network, operating independently of our directly-run locations.
Coaches We Know, Not Staff We Employ
Coaches teaching at Serangoon Swimming Complex are part of our wider freelance and affiliate network — experienced instructors we've connected with, rather than SG Sink or Swim employees. They run their own lessons independently, with their own scheduling and pricing.
Room to Actually Train
With a full 50-metre competition pool and none of the crowds a feature pool attracts, Serangoon is a genuinely good option for a focused, distraction-free lesson.
The Venue
About Serangoon Swimming Complex
Serangoon Swimming Complex opened on 1 March 1995, a year after the adjacent Serangoon Stadium, together forming the Serangoon Sport Centre precinct on Yio Chu Kang Road. It serves residents across Serangoon Gardens, Hougang and Upper Serangoon, and has built a reputation as one of the more quietly-kept public pools in the northeast — spacious, rarely crowded outside peak hours, and straightforward in what it offers.
The complex is a standard ActiveSG "Normal Pool," with a 50-metre competition pool and a wading pool for younger children — there's no separate in-between teaching pool, and no water slides, lazy river or wave pool. It's a no-nonsense setup built for lap swimming, structured lessons and training rather than a leisure day out, which suits families and adults who want a focused session without the distractions of a busier feature pool.
The complex is open every day except Thursday, from 8am to 9.30pm, with early access to the competition pool on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6.30am. It's closed all day on Thursdays for maintenance, unless Thursday falls on a public holiday, in which case normal hours apply.
Please Note:
Lessons at Serangoon Swimming Complex are conducted by freelance and affiliate coaches within the SG Sink or Swim network, not by SG Sink or Swim directly. Scheduling, pricing, and how each coach runs their lessons is set independently. We're happy to help connect you with a coach here, but please confirm the details directly with them before booking.

Why This Pool Works for the Neighbourhood
What makes this specific complex a solid option for families nearby.
Quiet Enough to Actually Focus
Without the crowds of a feature pool, lessons here tend to be calmer and less distracting — especially useful for nervous beginners or younger kids.
Two Bus Stops from NEX
Right by NEX, one of Singapore's largest malls, this is a genuinely convenient stop before or after a lesson — and about an 11-minute walk from Serangoon MRT.
A Real 50-Metre Training Pool
The full-length competition pool gives older kids and adults proper room for lap work and stroke training, not just a shallow teaching pool.
SwimSafer-Aligned Coaching
Coaches teaching here generally structure lessons around the national SwimSafer syllabus — confirm the specific approach with whoever you're matched with.
